GGWCUP Colombia 2023
The Global Goals World Cup arrives for the first time in Medellín, Colombia and Latin America in April 2023.
A GGWCUP is an all-women 5v5 football tournament - and to qualify as a team, you have to choose one of the 17 UN Global Goals to play and take action for. On match day, your 5-8 women team will play matches that last 6 minutes. The winning team is the team that combines sensational and creative activism with the most spectacular football.
The GGWCUP Colombia 2023 will be held in Medellín. Teams and partners from all over Colombia will join this event and celebrate the power of sports for the Global Goals.
Dates and details
The academic agenda of the event will be held in the city of Medellín on Friday, April 21 at the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana Campus (Forum Auditorium) and the Cup will be held in the Plaza de La Libertad, also in the city of Medellín on Saturday, April 22.

“Violence against women is a scourge that affects all women in our country. We want to provide information and training sessions on violence prevention for the women victims of the armed conflict in our region.”
“Our project is the "Sustainable Impact School Tour". Our goal is to make presentations on the SDGs in educational institutions and demonstrate that women can be included in any sport regardless of age or gender.”
“We aim to promote women’s empowerment within girls from the Moravia neighborhood through constant reference of inspirational women. Moravia has been a zone of high social conflict and violence.”
“Our initiative began 13 years ago, in a territory hitten by armed conflict. We want to share our experience of how sports have impacted the peace-building process in the Las Vegas village.”
“We want to improve the quality of life for people with solid organ and bone marrow transplants. We promote physical activity and sports before and after transplantation.”
“Colombian agriculture is in crisis. We produce healthy food (yacon syrup...) and provide training sessions in composting and home gardens based on sustainable production and consumption methods.”
“Hunger is a disease, and we want to cure it. We want to to find ways to install individual or community gardens.”

Copa Mundial de los Objetivos De Desarrollo Sostenible llega por primera a Medellín, Elespectador.com April 11, 2023
Por primera vez en Latinoamérica se jugará el Mundial de fútbol oficial de las Naciones Unidas. Recibe el nombre de la “Copa Mundial de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS)”, un torneo internacional de fútbol femenino de 5 contra 5, no competitivo, cuya misión es unir el deporte y el impacto sostenible por medio de mujeres de todo el mundo, que crean proyectos de impacto positivo en su entorno, impulsadas por los 17 ODS, usando el fútbol como vehículo para enviar un mensaje de empoderamiento de género alrededor de la Agenda 2030.
About host and organizer
Impact Hub Medellín
Impact Hub was created in 2005 with the aim of strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystems with close alignment to the 2030 SDGs. It is led through the +100 locations and +60 countries in which it’s present, developing programs with +17,000 members.
Since 2018, the Impact Hub in Medellin has led the creation of a more user-centric ecosystem in the city. The results shown in their 2021 Impact Report outline.

Average increase of 892% in sales and combined investments of up to USD $ 1,255,000.00 of program participants

Impact Hub Medellín was awarded by the Healthy Cities for Adolescents (HCA) Program, a five-year initiative managed by the International Society for Urban Health
The Medellin City Council awarded them with its highest recognition, the Orquid Award in the Enterprise Merit category in 2021.
The GGWCup in Colombia is developed in partnership with gol2soul.com, a Colombian organization that was born as an initiative in favor of a more inclusive football, where all people, regardless of gender, race and social or economic condition, can access the same opportunities in search of their dreams and life goals through football.
