Why is this Global Goal Important to the team?
Actualmente el ritmo de vida y estándar de productividad han generado sistemas intensivos de extracción, poniendo en riesgo la seguridad alimentaria como la economía mundial. A su vez el agro colombiano está en crisis debido al fenómeno de la niña (cambio climático) y altos costos de insumos. Por lo cual nosotras tomando posición frente a ello, elaborando alimentos saludables (sirope de yacón...), capacitamos en compostaje y huertos en casa teniendo como base la producción y consumo sostenible.
Currently, the pace of life and productivity standards have generated intensive extraction systems, putting food security and the world economy at risk. At the same time, Colombian agriculture is in crisis due to the "La Niña" phenomenon (climate change) and high input costs. Therefore, we are taking a stand against it, producing healthy food (yacon syrup...), and providing training sessions in composting and home gardens based on sustainable production and consumption methods.
Goal How will the Team take action for the Goal?
En el correg. de San Cristóbal realizamos compra directa de yacón orgánico al agricultor implementando comercio justo, esto le reduce costos de intermediario y transporte (↓emisiones); se acepta cualquier gramaje de yacón, éste normalmente es rechazado si es menor de 100gr o mayor de 800gr (≈50% de la cosecha).
Los residuos orgánicos se compostan y se regalan a las colaboradoras de producción en Girardota. Capacitaciones en el barrio Santo Domingo para implementar compostera y huertos en casa.
In San Cristóbal we buy organic yacon directly from the farmer, implementing fair trade, which reduces intermediary and transportation costs (↓emissions); we accept any weight of yacon, normally yacon is wasted if it is less than 100 grams or more than 800 grams (≈50% of the harvest).
Organic waste is composted and given to production partners in Girardota.
Also, we are going to provide training sessions in the Santo Domingo region to implement composting and home gardens.
