Green Champions plays for Global Goal 13 Climate Action
Why is this Global Goal Important to the team?
“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.’ America’s national Park President Franklin Roosevelt made that statement and we work to inspire students and parents to make their schools living energy, efficiency laboratories, and close the gap between what students know about the climate crisis, how we should be changing our day to day activities, and how schools operate. Green school designation helps to close that gap.
Goal How will the Team take action for the Goal?
We mentor parents and students to help their schools become Florida green schools and focus on reducing environmental impacts for energy. Efficiency, water, waste, Air Quality, Transportation, and communications.
How will the Team measure impact and reach?
We were the first school in 2017 to become a Florida designated green apple school.
There are now 45 Florida Green Schools, and our designation gave us credibility to ask our school district to commit to 100% clean energy by 2030.
How will the Team know your success?
When all 350 schools in Miami are, Florida green apple schools and our school district achieves 100% clean energy by 2030.
