Team Equaliteam play for Global Goal 5 - Gender Equality
We are a team that consists of schoolmates from the oldest educational facility for women in Iceland (Kvennskólinn í Reykjavík).
Why Global Goal 5?
We play the Global Goals World Cup for Goal number 5; Gender Equality.
The reason why we decided on this goal is because Iceland has put a special emphasis on that Goal and it’s close to our hearts.
Iceland has done relatively well in regards to gender equality and shares its expertise on gender equality internationally.
How will the Team take action for the Goal?
We would like to use this platform to point out what has been successful when it comes to furthering gender equality and also look at where we need to do better. Because even though Iceland has been on the top of the World Economic Forum Gender Gap Index, we still have a long way to go before we reach true gender equality.
We believe that football can be a force of good, when it comes to inspiring girls and women to work together towards a more equal world.
We plan on empowering girls and women through social media where we harness the fighting spirit of football!
What is succes for the Team?
Success will be seeing the many people we plan on inspiring taking action towards more gender equality!
