Team Blue Cross Starlets wants to reduce accessibility and consumption of alcohol and drugs among children and young people in their community. They want to educate the youth about the many risks and harmful impact drinking and using drag can have on your brain and your future.

This team wants to involve the community in their work to prevent abuse - and they will support the families and young people who are already affected. They want to offer everyone an alternative and equip them with the powerful tools to fight the urge for using drugs or alcohol: Arts and sport.

Welcome to the team players:  Loice Mary Atieno, Christine Awuor Oluoch, Lavynah Achieng, Lavenda Anyango, Cynthhia Achieng, Vivian Awino, Violet Achieng, Elsa Awino, and team captain Mebo Kabala & Jerono Carolyne.

We are playing for SDG 4 and will we involve girls and women as change agents in the community to fight the harmful use of drugs and alcohol. Sport will be our tool.

  • We will educate the young people through life skills sessions and engage them in arts and sports to keep them busy from drugs and other risky behaviors.

  • We want to use arts and sports to create awareness on alcohol harm, creation of awareness in the community through procession and hosting events, offering group and individual counselling to the youth affected by alcohol and other drugs, sensitization.

  • We will work together with the local leaders on alcohol related issues and offer family therapy to parents or children who are using alcohol.

How will the Team measure its actions, impact, and reach?

We will look at the:

  • Number of people who have stopped or reduced using drugs and alcohol.

  • Number of youth who have undergone through life skills.

  • How many Blue Cross Clubs have been formed.

  • How many people are attending our awareness events.

  • Number of local leaders enforcing alcohol regulations and laws.
