Obab Oman plays for Global Goal 14 Life Below Water
The team members are among the most important advocates of underwater life and how life in the sea plays a major role in the global balance. The team believes that focusing on the goal may make even a small difference in the process of preserving life in the oceans and seas.
Therefore, it was necessary to find some initiatives aimed at preserving the marine environment, especially the beautiful and charming beaches that the Sultanate of Oman enjoys and marine life full of adventure and beauty. This goal was also chosen because of the maritime history of the Sultanate of Oman, which dates back to before the fourth millennium BC, as the Omanis have known navigation since the earliest times of history, sailed the sea, made ships and boats, and carried out sea voyages in the Indian and Pacific Oceans.
It was also necessary to choose this goal in order to save some marine creatures from extinction, and this is what our logo represents, which is a shark called the “whale shark.” It is threatened with extinction and is found in the seas and beaches of the Sultanate of Oman and is considered attractive to many tourists.
The team was also named after “Obab,” which means sea wave, which greatly affects marine life through tidal currents, ship movement, or wind movement.
اعضاء الفريق هن من أهم المؤيدين الحياة تحت الماء وكيف أن الحياة في البحار لها دور كبير في التوازن الكوني فإن الفريق يؤمن بأن التركيز على الهدف قد يحدث ولو فارق بسيط في عملية الحفاظ على الحياة في المحيطات والبحار . لذا دعت الضرورة لإيجاد بعض المبادرات التي تهدف للمحافظة على البيئة البحرية وخاصة ما تتمتع به سلطنة عمان من شواطئ جميلة وساحرة وحياة بحرية مليئة بالمغامرة والجمال. كذلك تم اختيار هذا الهدف لتاريخ سلطنة عمان البحري والتي يعود بدايته الى ما قبل الألفية الرابعة قبل الميلاد، إذ عُرف العمانيون الملاحة منذ أقدم عصور التاريخ وركبوا البحر وصنعوا السفن والمراكب وقاموا برحلات بحرية في المحيطين الهندي والهادي. كما دعت الضرورة لاختيار هذا الهدف وذلك لانقاذ بعض المخلوقات البحرية من الانقراض وهذا ما يمثله شعارنا وهو عبارة عن سمكة قرش والتي تدعى " الحوت القرشي " وهي مهددة بالانقراض وتتواجد في بحار وشواطي سلطنة عمان وتعتبر جذابة لكثير من السائحين. وكما تم تسمية الفريق على اسم "عُباب" والذي يعني موجه البحر والذي يؤثر بشكل كبير سواءا كان في الحياة البحرية من خلال تيارات المد والجزر او في حركة السفن او حركة الرياح.
