Dyke Soccer I Goal 10 I
GGWCUP NYC QUALIFIER
This proud group of LGBTQI+ Players have formed a supportive soccer community that meets twice a week in Herbert Von King Park Brooklyn. The team is playing for Global Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities because they have all felt the impact of playing in a world where their identities are marked as "other"
Everyone is welcome to join! Regardless of skill level -and sexual orientation. As long as you are not afraid of being mistaken for a "dyke")
Team captain Alexandra Schmidt shares some of the ways the players are engaged in the cause:
"We advocate for prison abolition, health care for all, senior citizen outreach, and queer media. Some of our ideas include: hosting skill trainings for amateur queer soccer players, coaching queer players on injury after-care and warm-ups, and hosting a fundraiser game for Black+Pink (an organization that serves as a pen pal system for LGBTQI+ folx behind bars).
YOU GO DYKES. -GOOD LUCK!
