Team slogan: Healthy body - healthy mind!
We are from a women’s football club - Eastern Flames FC - established in 2006 aiming to promote women’s football and healthy lifestyles in our community.
In 2016, Maram and Karina (current managers) decided it was time to expand our outreach beyond Saudi Aramco by hosting clinics and tournaments serving under privileged in Dammam, Qatif, Hassa and Khobar.
By participating in GGWCUP, we aim at helping the community Kindgom-wide by raising awareness to wellbeing with a focus on mental health.
Our Global Goals team, Healthy Flames, is made up of 8 players all with unique backgrounds that will enable us to deliver the project more effectively.
This is how the Team will take action for their Goal
Global Goals 3 aligns with our club’s mission in promoting health and wellness. In the GGWCUP we specifically aim to raise awareness across the Kingdom on target: “promote mental health” through football and fitness.
Since February 2020, the whole world has been affected by loss due to Covid. Whether it was loss of a loved one, loss of a job, loss of playing football, loss of freedom, etc. each one of us has had to deal with this loss. We have all gone through the “grieving cycle” but those who practice sports and partake in a sport have bounced back faster. We want the Saudi community to know that when you exercise, those “happy hormones” (endorphins) are what triggers happy emotions and can help lift sadness or ease depression.
In Saudi Arabia, speaking of mental health is like a taboo. Through this Global Goals World Cup, we want to raise awareness:
ways to improve your mental health
different types of mental illnesses
ultimately reduce the stigma of mental health in Saudi Arabia.
