Solar Creed plays for Global Goal 2 Zero Hunger

We are a group of women from the Solar Energy Company Solar Creed, and we believe that the future of our culture, democracy and planet depends on compassion and inclusion of rural and vulnerable offgrid farming communities.

We work primarily in Nigeria where we have reached customers located in Oyo, Ogun, Osun, kaduna, Kwara, Kogi, Edo, Ekiti, Rivers, Ondo and Lagos State. Our goal is to empower at least 30M small off-grid farmers in Africa to use solar energy to grow, preserve, package and distribute food in a sustainable way.

Global Goal 2 - Zero Hunger - is important to us because malnutrition is a direct or underlying cause of 45 % of all deaths of under-five children and Nigeria has the second highest burden of stunted children in the world, with a national prevalence rate of 32 % of children under five.

An estimated 2M children in Nigeria suffer from severe acute malnutrition (SAM), but only 2 out of every 10 children affected is currently reached with treatment.

Seven procent of women of childbearing age also suffer from acute malnutrition.

It’s high time to unlock the sun and reach zero hunger

This is how the Team will take action for their Goal

Provide sustainably produced eggs from local poultry customers to 1,000 nursery school children under the age of five.

Impact will be measured through a 6 stage process: Engage, Connect, Focus, Resources, Data, Result. These processes will guide our measurement of impact and reach.
