Dear Teams,
I'm thankful we have each other in the world at this time. It is imperative that we get to know each other, and listen to one another.
You and your team are some of the most powerful people I have met. You give me hope for the future.
What has been broadcasted live across the US starting in Minneapolis this past week has been wildly disturbing, sad, and it has reassured me that communities built on trust are the hub for the solutions and changes needed to reduce the inequalities on all levels in all systems in all countries.
I'm Danish and am in my second year living in the US. I moved from my 5th floor studio apartment in the heart of Copenhagen to the east side of Detroit. This country and its black communities have weathered heartbreaking violent storms, that I'm only starting to understand in depth. I have work to do. I am just starting to get to know the various systems such as the Detroit bus system, the election process and the health care acts where on any form you need to answer the question: Are you native Hawaiian, black, white/caucasian, hispanic? The list goes on.
I'm pained by these recent tragic events.
This year marks the decade of action and is the 75th anniversary of the United Nations. For so many years we have been reaching to reducing inequalities, to end poverty, and to have justice for all. It is high time to identify the rules we need to break to re-calibrate the world and make room for everyone.
I will also use this time to revisit Global Goal 10 Reducing Inequalities to do what I can in my comminity and keep learning from you. uThank you for playing your part. Marie
