GGWCup Prague 2019: "One Of The Biggest Adventures In My Life!"

The whole GGWCup Prague journey had started long before our Prague tournament in 2019.

Gender Equality is not just a phrase for me, it’s the complete opposite. The same access of women and men to sources, human rights, workplaces, health care and more is really essential for me.

At the Association of Social Responsibility, which I had found during my maternity leave in 2013, we are focused on SDGs agenda in its complexity. But football for women? Such a huge and great idea how to prove and show to all audience, that girls and women can do it too. The principle of putting ladies in men’s shoes into the purely men’s world of football had fascinated me.

I had the GGWCup ball in my hand for the first time in 2016 when I was in NYC for Global Goals Week and I saw all the amazing teams playing for SDGs and for what is the most important for them. I was absolutely sure that the world needed this game and we in the Czech Republic definitely need the whole project too. It may seem like an easy decision, but believe me – it wasn’t, because I have never done anything like that before, ever. Sometimes I say that organizing GGWCup was one of the biggest adventures in my life! :)

I live my life with the motto: There are no limits for us in our dreamed goals, if we have energy to achieve them.
— Lucie Mádlová, founder of Association of Social Responsibility.

And as you can see, the decision was right. It’s not just about to have the best GGWCup team in the world in 2019 (post women Yellow Ladies won the GGWCup NYC 2019 Finals), but now we are preparing the second tournament in Prague which will be bigger, better, and even more educational and maybe European!

The GGWCup is a bright experience, which puts us together in an amazing way. It puts girls, women, and men interested in fulfilling UN Sustainable Development Goals together, which now really matters more than ever before.
