SDG5 Dream Team Players Honored at the Peace and Sport Awards in Monaco
A Dream Team of Gender Equality Activists
At the Global Goals World Cup Final in New, York September 2017, a special team participated: It was a team of extraordinary gender equality activists from around the world, who had been hand picked by well known patrons of their cause, such as artis Annie Lennox and her Royal Highness the Crown Princess Mary of Denmark. The players were brought together to form a team, which would showcase the multicultural and many faceted aspects of SDG 5: Gender Equality. These women each had faced many obstacles in their fierce struggle for equality. Now they teamed up. Some of them meeting each other for the first time. But instantly connected by their shared goal.
Honored at the Peace and Sport Awards.
Last week in Monaco at the annual Peace and Sport Awards two of the Dream Team players were recognized for their outstanding contribution. The organistion HODI, (Horn of Africa Development Initiative) Founded by Fatuma Adan, was named NGO of the year, for their use of sport as a means to promote peace and change gender norms in rural Kenya.
