Teams Dominica 2018

Congratulations to all the amazing teams who came out to play for the Global Goals on November 2nd at the Botanical Gardens, Roseau.

"We play to protect all families, our environment and future generations from the impact of the climate crisis!" - Team captain from Climate Reality and organizer, Sapphire Sky Carrington. 

“The company that I work with IOM has partnered with several organizations and the Government of Dominica to facilitate the roof repairs and building of small core shelters for hundreds of local residents. We are excited about making new partnerships and continuing to develop the lovely Dominica. The women representing IOM Angels United are from various of the local teams.” – Team captain Jewele' Browne.

“We are from the North East of Dominica. We believe that every child should receive a proper education in an environment that is conducive to learning. We also would like to see schools that are not just based on teaching and learning but adequately equipped to spark creativity and critical thinking and problem solving. Addressing School PTA gathering on the importance of Quality education for all, Designing signage's for erection on buildings around the community. Promoting Creative expression of children and adults in depicting quality education (competitions.).” – Team captain Dernel Dailey-Alexander.

“We are from New York and our Global Goal is quality education. Growing up in New York and having friends from all corners of the world, it has made me realize that education is not just a necessity, but a privilege. As team leader, I am currently in college studying to become a teacher. I want to show the next generations that  education is a gift we should appreciate every single day. The rest of my teammates also believe that this goal is essential to furthering the next generations to come. Education has improved the lives of many, and we want to spread that.” – Team Captain Jocelyne Alfred.

“We are from the North East of Dominica. Dominica had been blessed with fertile soil and it is time that we take advantage of this and really grow what we eat and eat what we grow. By doing this we will eradicate so many non communicable diseases. We need to encourage our people to live a healthier life style to promote longer happier living.” – Athenia Ambo

“We believe in a World where youth are actively engaged in bringing innovative solutions to combat crime, violence and conflict. Youth are not only perpetrators of crime, we are peace builders working towards a safe and secured world” – Team Captain Brexi Joseph.

It was a close match but Hurricane Fighters playing for Goal 13: Climate Action won the final against the Sun Beams Playing for Goal 4: Quality Education after a nerve-racking penalty shoot-out.

In the semi finals the two teams faced the IOM Angles United who played for Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, and Changing Mindsets, who represented Goal 4 Quality Education.
