Playing in the special GGWCup leagues will transform young players into powerful activists and ambassadors for the UN Global Goals.
Not long after the launch Leo Messi shared the new GG League in Buenos Aires with all his fans on Facebook: “Congratulations to the girls of La Liga del Potrero Femenina – an all-female football league in Buenos Aires dedicated to sport, breaking gender barriers and promoting a better world! Discover the 17 Global Goals.” – Leo Messi.

About the La Liga del Potrero Feminina
The League is created by the Boca Juniors Foundation. The 20 participating teams consist of teenage girls from social clubs in Buenos Aires age 12 to 17 and they meet up and play games every Saturday.
In Buenos Aires 20 Girl's teams started in the league - in 2019 they will be 35 teams will play and take action for their chosen goal each week.
As part of the league structure the teams each choose one of the UN Global Goals to play and take action for throughout the duration of the tournament. The teams then go through a simple step by step process, which gives them the tools for transforming a cause into action. Each week in connection with their games the teams discuss their chosen goal and what actions they will take. Besides from inspiring and motivating each other to create impact, they also build connections with the other teams that are about much more than winning or loosing, but about their generation co-creating the world they want to grow up in.
