Co-creating for the Global Goals

Global Goals World Cup is not your average soccer tournament. We struggle to come up with the short and snappy tagline describing what we are, because we exist somewhere in the intersection between sport, activism, art and media...-with a current of gender equality running through it all.

We believe, that if we are going to realize the promises of the UN Global Goals we will all have to work together, creating new synergies through unusual and sometimes unlikely partnerships. This makes perfect sense to us. But it wasn't until we held the co-creation workshop for the New York City tournament this week, that we realized how much sense this approach also makes to our partners.

We invited people and organizations from across the whole spectrum of all these overlapning spheres. And they showed up in numbers! all engaging and contributing with their various competences. Together we discovered, that the areas of overlap are much greater than the differences. And that sport and gender equality are unifying x-factors that can translate different approaches and mandates into a willingness to create partnerships for the SDG's.

Existing partnerships where cemented and new friendships forged. We are full of excitement for the task ahead, which will be to convert all the goodwill and commitment into a new model for executing and financing an international sport event while creating deep-rooted local engagement and lasting community impact.

A special thank you to Mark Voysey of Cunning NY who generously hosted the workshop in their gorgeous Tribeca office, and to our core partners from the Danish Permanent mission to the UN, UNDP and Save the Children, who continuously works with us to develop the Global Goals World Cup across the world.
