Many teams have had tremendous breakthrough and some have even changed laws in their home countries.

The 2024 Global Goals World Cup Finals brought together a vibrant mix of cultures in Riyadh for a thrilling celebration of sportsmanship and the Global Goals!

GGWCUP Saudi Arabia 2022

In the second tournament in Saudi Arabia 42 football teams played the qualifying city tournaments. 20 football teams qualified to play at the Finals in Dammam October 21 and 22, 2022.

This tournament also introduced a 3x3 basketball tournament. 12 basketball teams participated within GGWCUP Saudi Arabia 2022.

GGWCUP Finals Iceland 2021

Since 2016 we have hosted our signature Finals in New York City during the UN General Assembly Week and the Global Goals Week. This year was different. We moved the 2021 finals to Iceland and hosted our annual GGWCUP Finals in Iceland during the Reykjavík Global Forum from November 8 to 10, 2021.

GGWCUP Finals NYC 2019

For the 4th time we played in New York City during the UN General Assembly Week. And this year we are thrilled to present a legendary lineup from artists, royals, disruptors, change makers and innovators including Saudi Arabia Ambassador to USA, Reema, with referees, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, UNDP Goodwill Ambassador and Game of Thrones Emmy-nominated actor. 

The GGWCUP held 48 storeys up into the New York skyline at the SAP building Hudson Yards. And running alongside the tournament was a spectacular line-up of high-level speakers including CEO of Women Deliver, Katja Iversen, CEO of Burning Man, Marian Goodell, founder of Female Quotient, Shelley Zalis, and many others.

Competing teams came from New York, Greece, Czech Republic, Saudi Arabia, India and Morocco will play to be the best team for the world and lift the one-of-a-kind trophy designed by artist Olafur Eliasson. 

Huge congrats to all participating teams. You all showed us an optimistic future and all teams gave themself permission to be the best they could possible be.

GGWCUP Prague 2019

On May 29th 2019 in Prague the world got new Global Goals Champions. This was the first Global Goals World Cup in the Czech Republic hosted together with Association of Social Responsibility. More details on event page.

18 teams participated and the winners was: GGWCup Champion Yellow Ladies from Ceska Posta – Team Kopacky from Plzensky Prazdroj won Best Advocacy. Team PoweRED from Vodafone won Best Style. Team Better World Starts at Home from IKEA won for Best Engagement. Team The Same won for Most Sustainable Outfit.

Semifinal 1: SMART Women from The Ministry of Trade vs Yellow Ladies. Semifinals 2: FK Lvice Černín from The Ministry of Foreign Affairs vs Self-esTým from Unilever.

GGWCUP Europe 2019

We transformed the urban arena by the BLOX building into a large football arena including playful space spaces for audience, music, food and talks. Our host DAC has since 2008 been supporting the UN network Global Compact and is the meeting place for architecture, design and urban culture in Denmark.

Women of Europe unite in Copenhagen to play for the world. In total thirty teams participated in the tournament. More details on event page.

The second GGWCUP in Bangkok was a two-day football festival with games, talk and community action for the Global Goals.

GGWCUP Mumbai 2019

This first GGWCUP in Mumbai, India had a very magical feel to it, with 100’s of students and community watching the many teams play for the Global Goals. Fr. Agnels School hosted the GGWCUP Mumbai, and 23 teams all-women teams participated in the tournament. Each team was strongly driven by a social purpose and every player was very strong on their actions and extremely assertive and passionate about the impact they had created in their community. Each woman who played had a story of strength and determination that empowered them to create change together as a team.

GGWCUP Dominica 2018

Congratulations to all the amazing teams who came out to play for the Global Goals on November 2nd at the Botanical Gardens, Roseau. It was a close final match but Team Hurricane Fighters (Goal 13) won against Team Sun Beams (Goal 4) after a nerve-racking penalty shoot-out! More details on the event page.

 

GGWCUP Johannesburg 2018

On October 13, 2018 24 teams from across South Africa and abroad participated in the first South African Global Goals World Cup. Teams from local qualifier tournaments in Limpopo, Kwa-Zulu Natal, The Free State and Gauging travelled to Johannesburg to play.

GGWCUP Finals NYC 2018

The two finalist teams - @goleadoras & @sandiegosoccerwomen - were both truly deserving, but Goleadoras took the trophy. They entered the tournament ranked number one on engaging the crowd, top five on action and on the day, their creative style and football skills took them all the way. They even brought their own backup dancers!! More details on the event page.

 

GGWCUP Dubai 2018

GGWCUP NYC Finals 2017

This was our second annual Finals in New York City. 24 teams of women from 5 continents was fired up and ready to play for the world. We played in the  Brooklyn Expo Center 72 Noble Street, Brooklyn.

 

GGWCUP Bangkok 2017

On September 30, 2017 we played in Bangkok for the first time. The tournament was hosted at the NIST international School in partnership with Chelsea Foundation and UNDP. Once again, our amazing honorary referee Nikolaj Coster-Waldau made sure that everyone plays fair.

GGWCUP Copenhagen 2016

The first Global Goals World Cup tournament was held in Copenhagen during the Women Deliver Conference. Artist Olafur Eliasson donated little suns as medals, and ever since we have used the Suns as medals. Save the Children, the city of Copenhagen, the Danish FA and Danfoss were among the partners.

Team Bikespice Your Life (SDG 13) won the grand prize of participating in the Global Launch and first Final in NYC the same year.
