Little Sun medals & Olafur Eliasson trophy
We are all #ConnectedByTheSun
In 2012, artist Olafur Eliasson and engineer Frederik Ottesen started the Little Sun project and since then, they have been working day by day, solar lamp by solar lamp, to bring the sustainable energy and the awesome power of the sun to everyone.
They have generously donated solar lamps to our winners in the tournament. The perfect medal if you ask us, and we are so very thankful to have the opportunity to spread the Little Sun project wherever we play. Thank you Little Sun team.
The power of your purchase
For every Little Sun medal you purchase, you are not only getting a premium solar product for your winner or yourself. You also make a solar lamp available to someone without access to electricity at a locally affordable price.
2018 world premiere of artist Olafur Eliasson’s Global Goals World Cup trophy
In September 2018 everyone could get a a close first-hand look at Eliasson’s work and meet the champions of the 3rd Global Goals World Cup at a cocktail reception at Tanya Bonakadar Gallery in Chelsea.
The brass trophy was designed and built by Eliasson in his workshop in Berlin and brought to the New York City tournament in time for the winners to hoist the coveted art piece.
“It is wonderful to see how the Global Goals World Cup has succeeded in using football to empower women and girls who are taking action for a more just and equitable future. Like football, activism is an endeavour in which we work together towards a common goal. By harnessing this shared emotional investment and playful spirit of competition, the Global Goals World Cup is able to support young women from around the world who are helping to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. The SDGs are an incredible roadmap to the kind of world where every child has access to food, health, education, and energy, and it is a great honour for me to have been able to design the trophy that the winning team will take home with them for their great performance in the service of our shared world.” – Olafur Eliasson.
