Meet Our next Dream Team Heroine
She was raped, shamed and rejected by her family. But one day Dina Smailova found the courage to stand up and speak up! Not just for herself but for all victims of sexual violence in Kasakhstan: "we are not the ones to be ashamed, our attackers should be ashamed and prosecuted" She says.
Once a scared young girl who was told she had brought shame on her family, now a well known tv-producer in Kasakhstan. She has used her voice to start a movement! Немолчиkz or "Don't Keep Silent" as it translates to, is encouraging women all over the country to speak out against sexual violence and the patriarchal norms and stereotypes that allows their attackers to walk free.

The SDG 5 Dream Team of Gender Equality Champions
The SDG 5 ( gender equality) Dream Team is a gender activist all-star team brought together in partnership with the Danish UN mission. It will play alongside 20+ other women's teams in the GGWCup Global Final in New York City on September 19th. The day the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly opens. Each player on the team has been nominated by an established gender equality role-model who wishes to shine a light on someone who has inspired her, and who's voice she thinks the world needs to hear.

UN-Women Nominates the next player
The role-model to point at Dina is none other than the mother of gender equality: UN Women Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka
See her motivation here.

We can't wait for Dina to join her teammates Fatuma Abdulkadir, Emma Holten and Khalida Popal.
Stay tuned as the rest of the team will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Join us at the Global Goals World Cup Final in NYC Sept 19th to see these trailblazers in action.
