These amazing ladies are coming all the way from Liberia to be HEARD!

Team Sauce is playing for goal #6: Clean Water and Sanitation. Drinking water is often taken for granted and Team Sauce is coming to New York to remind us that clean water is still denied to many parts of the world.

"We are a group of ladies who dare to stand for change. -We have the Sauce!"

A brand new youth organisation is planning to make its mark on the world

Each team member of Team Sauce is a volunteer for Youth Action Liberia, an organization that was just established on June 15th. They are taking quick and effective action in their local communities, and are already looking to spread their message on an international level in New York.

Youth Action Liberia is based in Nimba, a county in northeastern Liberia. Janet Keneah, Founder of Youth Action Liberia and the captain of Team Sauce, says that the organization is planning to tackle many goals at once, but the most prominent issue is providing clean water for community members. This seems like a basic source that all humans should have access to. However, it is very scarce in Nimba, which has led to more social challenges within the county.

Ever heard of Nimba in Liberia?...No? Well the ladies of Team Sauce plan to put it on the map!

Women pay a high price for water scarcity

Team captain, Keneah says there is only a few sources of clean water for residents that are used for both drinking and bathing. Residents have to walk far to reach these sources of water, which poses a threat for women and young girls who are sometimes harassed and raped by encounters with men on their way.

The fact that women find themselves in dangerous situations just to provide clean water for their families is not acceptable. Youth Action Liberia works to promote these simple yet overlooked human rights in rural parts of their nation. While the organization is planning to tackle various local issues such as quality education, child protection, health and economic improvements, their priority is clean water- a basic need for human survival.

The Dream:

“I dream of a future where young people can take a stand in governmental offices and we can make our own decisions,” she said. “I want to live in a society where our voices will be heard.”
Jenet Keneah -Team Sauce

Team Sauce is looking forward to raising awareness and their experiences and needs in New York. We live in a huge world where tackling all local issues is tough, but Global Goals World Cup is an opportunity for this team to make their vision a reality and integrate in a network where their voices are heard.
